Sunmeadow Pools

Stage: ongoing care

Seasonal Openings & Closings

Spring start-up and fall winterization timed to the Ottawa climate, designed to help protect the pool through freeze-thaw months.

Ottawa winters put real stress on pool equipment and plumbing, so our seasonal visits are built around the local climate rather than a generic checklist. Spring opening removes and inspects the winter cover, restarts filtration and heating equipment, and brings the water back into balance before the first swim. Fall closing lowers water levels where needed, clears lines of water that could freeze and crack, and secures a winter cover rated for the region's snow load.

Timing is weather-dependent. We schedule opening visits once overnight temperatures are reliably above freezing, and closing visits before the first hard frost is expected — both windows are confirmed with clients a few weeks ahead so the date can be planned around.

A late-spring cold snap or an early fall frost can shift our calendar by a week or so in either direction. We track the forecast for the whole service area and send a short note ahead of your visit if the window needs to move, rather than showing up to a pool that still needs another week of warmth, or leaving a winterization too late.

These visits are designed to help reduce the risk of winter damage to pipes and equipment; they do not guarantee against every weather event, and any damage discovered at opening is documented and quoted separately before repair work begins.

Seasonal questions

How far ahead should I book opening or closing?

A few weeks' notice helps us fit your property into the right weather window, especially during the busiest spring and fall weeks.

Can I close the pool myself and just book an opening?

Yes, each visit is booked independently — some clients handle one end of the season themselves and bring us in for the other.

What if I need to move my opening date?

Let us know as soon as you can — we'll slot you into the next available day on the route for your area, weather permitting.

Coverage note

Seasonal visits run across Ottawa, ON K2L 1V3 and the surrounding area. See the map on our Contact page for our base location, or reach out to confirm coverage for your address. During the busiest opening and closing weeks, crews work extended routes each day to get through the full booking list before the weather window closes, so confirmed dates are held firmly once scheduled.
