Sunmeadow Pools

Stage: ongoing care

Maintenance & Service

Scheduled visits that keep water balanced and equipment running through the Ottawa swim season.

A maintenance visit from Sunmeadow Pools covers water testing and chemical balancing, filter inspection and cleaning, skimming and vacuuming, and a check of pump and heater operation. Visits are scheduled on a fixed calendar agreed with the client, typically weekly or bi-weekly through the swim season, with the exact cadence set during the first consultation.

We also take on maintenance for pools we did not build. The first visit in that case is an equipment and water-chemistry assessment, so the maintenance plan reflects the pool's actual condition rather than assumptions carried over from a previous provider.

Water chemistry targets stay within the ranges recommended for residential pools in Ontario — chlorine, pH and alkalinity are each tested and logged at every visit, and adjustments are made gradually rather than all at once, which keeps the water comfortable for swimmers between visits instead of swinging from one extreme to another.

Filter care varies with the system installed. Sand filters are backwashed on a rotation tied to pressure readings; cartridge filters are rinsed or replaced on a seasonal schedule. Either way, the technician checks the reading at every visit so a clogged filter never goes unnoticed between appointments.

Maintenance clients receive a visit summary after each appointment noting chemical readings, any equipment concerns, and recommendations — intended to help you follow what's happening with the pool, not to replace a conversation when something needs attention.

Most clients settle into a weekly visit through the height of summer and a lighter bi-weekly cadence in the shoulder months of late spring and early fall, but the exact plan is built around how the pool gets used — a pool that sees daily family use needs more frequent attention than one used mainly on weekends.

A typical visit

01

Arrive & test

Water sample taken and tested for chlorine, pH and alkalinity.

02

Balance

Chemicals adjusted to the target range for the pool's volume.

03

Clean

Skimming, brushing and vacuuming as needed that visit.

04

Check equipment

Pump, filter and heater checked for normal operation.

What a standard visit does not cover

  • Liner replacement or equipment repairs beyond routine checks (quoted separately)
  • Opening and closing services, which are scheduled as their own appointments
  • Structural work on decking, fencing or coping
  • Algae or stain removal after extended neglect, which is treated as a one-time restoration visit

If a visit uncovers something outside standard maintenance, we flag it in the visit summary and provide a separate estimate before any extra work begins. Clients are never charged for additional work without that written estimate being approved first.

Getting started

Setting up a maintenance plan takes one visit before the regular calendar begins. From there, the cadence runs largely on its own — you're notified ahead of each visit and can reach the technician directly if plans change.

  1. Initial assessment

We review the pool's equipment and current water chemistry.

  2. Plan agreed

Visit frequency and scope confirmed in writing, matched to your pool and budget.

  3. First visit

Baseline readings recorded and any immediate issues flagged.

  4. Ongoing cadence

Scheduled visits continue through the season with summaries after each one.

  5. Season wrap-up

The maintenance plan folds into fall closing, or pauses until opening next spring.

New maintenance clients can start mid-season as easily as at the beginning of one — we simply run the equipment and water-chemistry assessment first, then slot the property into our regular route for the rest of the year.
